Toby Emmerich Joins FilmNation Entertainment’s Infrared As Consultant
Former Warner Bros Motion Picture Boss Toby Emmerich had boarded FilmNation Entertainment‘s production label Infrared as a consultant.
FilmNation and Emmerich recently teamed on the Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming movie, I Play Rocky, from Peter Farrelly. The pic world premiered at TIFF to great reception and will hit theaters on Nov. 13. Emmerich’s Fireside Films produced the film, alongside Christian Baha and Farrelly, with FilmNation handling production services and international sales.
Infrared is FilmNation’s production label focused on genre films with franchise potential. In his new role, Emmerich will consult on the development and production of the division’s slate. Emmerich will continue to operate Fireside Films and Fireside Television with Michele Weiss and Amanda Krentzman.
Upcoming Infrared releases include Derek Kolstad’s Painter starring Amber Midthunder and Walton Goggins for 20th Century Studios and JT Mollner’s Skeletons starring Brie Larson for Sony Pictures. Recent Infrared releases include Robert Olsen and Dan Berk’s Novocaine starring Jack Quaid.
FilmNation Entertainment CEO Glen Basner said, “Having very recently collaborated with Toby, and loving his filmmaking roots from New Line, we’ve seen firsthand how his exceptional creative instincts can turn bold projects into breakout hits. The Infrared team is thrilled to have him bring that expertise and propulsive energy to an independent genre label, where we can build on our momentum and take it to an entirely new level.”
Emmerich said, “I loved working with FilmNation on I Play Rocky, and the film wouldn’t have been possible without them! Their entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to getting great independent films made is incredibly exciting. I can’t wait to jump in with Glen and the Infrared team.”
Following his run at Warner Bros Motion Picture Group as Chairman in June 2022, Emmerich founded Fireside Films, which landed a first look deal with the Burbank, CA lot. Prior to his role as Chairman, Emmerich served as President and Chief Operating Officer of New Line Cinema. Emmerich is also an advisor currently to AMC Theatres’ new film label, Leawood Films.
