Georgia and China Establish Joint Working Group on Artificial Intelligence Development
Georgia and China have established a joint working group to deepen cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). This was announced by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, during her speech in Shanghai at a meeting dedicated to global artificial intelligence governance. Kvrivishvili noted that the working group was formed based on a memorandum signed between the Ministry of Economy of Georgia and the National Development and Reform Commission of China (NDRC).
“Our partnership with China is a clear example of how close cooperation allows us to turn shared goals into real initiatives. It serves as another reminder that no single country can fully realize the potential of artificial intelligence on its own. Dialogue, trust, and international partnership are the foundation of responsible AI governance,” Kvrivishvili said.
Kvrivishvili also noted that the implementation of the Black Sea submarine fiber-optic cable project and the creation of new large-scale data centers will significantly enhance the region’s digital connectivity and resilience.
“For centuries, Georgia has served as a bridge between Europe and Asia thanks to its trade and transport routes. Today, we continue this historic mission, becoming a reliable digital gateway between the two continents. The submarine fiber-optic cable across the Black Sea and new large-scale data centers will strengthen secure communications and digital resilience, while also reinforcing Georgia’s role as a strategic digital hub,” the minister said.
