SIRIUS SOFTWARE
At a time when digitalisation is rapidly reshaping how businesses operate, a startup founded by young entrepreneurs from the Republic of Moldova is proving that even traditionally “rigid” fields such as accounting can become simple, fast, and accessible. With support from the EU4Youth programme, SIRIUS SOFTWARE has successfully developed its business – a modern AI-powered accounting platform that, today, helps thousands of entrepreneurs and hundreds of accountants manage financial processes in a more efficient manner.
Participation in the “Building Back Better through Social Entrepreneurship” project, implemented by Junior Achievement Moldova with the support of the EU4Youth programme, provided the team not only with financial assistance but also with access to mentorship, training, and networking opportunities – resources that significantly accelerated the company’s development and helped transform an idea into a widely used product.
“EU4Youth experience and training sessions were a great boost for us. We attended workshops focused on scaling a business, market validation, and startup management. Instead of abstract theory, the programme offered practical insights that helped us step away from daily coding, think more strategically about unit economics, and shift our mindset from a sprint to a marathon”, says Alexandru Vapilov, CTO and co-founder of SIRIUS SOFTWARE.
The training sessions also became an important networking space, where the founders interacted with other entrepreneurs and mentors. These connections helped them establish the operational foundations needed to grow the team and further develop the product.
SIRIUS SOFTWARE is a platform that eliminates bureaucracy, reduces time spent on repetitive tasks, and radically simplifies business financial management. It has already become a trusted tool for thousands of entrepreneurs and accountants in Moldova.
The idea originated from a real, daily problem the founders, Alexandru Vapilov and Traian Chivriga, faced in their work.
“The product idea emerged about 4-5 years ago, when Traian and I were discussing a project related to processing and automating bank transactions. We wanted to automate bank statements so users wouldn’t have to constantly log into internet banking and deal with passwords and complicated processes. At first, we built it for ourselves, but then we realized it could be extremely useful for accountants as well. Initially, we didn’t even see it as a startup. But then we noticed interest and potential users. Later, we started developing a full platform for accountants”, explains Alexandru Vapilov.
One of the platform’s most appreciated features is the automation of invoice processing using artificial intelligence.
In traditional systems, accountants manually enter dozens or even hundreds of documents – a process that can take several days. With SIRIUS, documents can be photographed and uploaded directly into the platform, where AI automatically processes the information.
“We had an accountant who used to manually enter around 50 e-invoices into 1C, which took several days. With SIRIUS, she simply took photos and uploaded them to the platform. The AI scanned and indexed all the data automatically, and the whole process took around 10 minutes”, says the co-founder.
The founders’ vision is ambitious: to radically transform how accounting works and eventually offer a modern alternative to traditional systems like 1C. They emphasize, however, that the platform is not meant to replace accountants, but to simplify their work, helping them become faster, more organised, and more efficient.
“We don’t believe AI will replace accountants. But it will greatly support them and simplify their work. Our platform brings order to company finances. You issue invoices, create payment accounts, and see who has paid you – directly from your phone. You can create invoices in under 60 seconds, export them to the tax authority system, and then simply wait for them to be signed and paid”, says Alexandru.
In addition to mentorship, networking, and training sessions, the team also benefited from financial support in the form of a grant. This became a key catalyst for the young entrepreneurs in the early stages, enabling them to accelerate business development and strengthen their operational activities.
“The funds had a major impact. We allocated them in two main areas: covering three months of office rent, which kept our team stable and fully focused on core development, including e-invoice integration, and funding our initial marketing and user onboarding campaigns. This early boost helped us validate the platform and move from beta users to our first paying customers”, explains Alexandru.
The financial support also helped them build the operational foundation needed to grow the team and prepare for international expansion.
Currently the company has a team of 11 people – 10 based in Moldova and one in Ukraine – and has attracted approximately €360,000 in external investment. The founders aim to continue developing the product and expand into the Romanian market, offering a modern alternative to traditional accounting systems.
Their message for young people who want to start a business is simple: build products people truly need and do not be afraid to think differently. As the SIRIUS founders say, new ideas will always outperform old models.
The EU4Youth Phase III Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship programme, co-funded by the European Union and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, is being executed by the Central Project Management Agency (CPVA) in Eastern Partnership countries. These include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. The programme will run until the middle of 2026 and aims to provide technical assistance to governmental and non-governmental organisations to tackle youth unemployment and improve employability.
