Ludhiana, June 14: Poetry and literature are timeless treasures that preserve India's cultural heritage, civilisational values and traditions across generations. They serve as powerful mediums for promoting positivity, strengthening social bonds and nurturing the spirit of harmony and brotherhood in society.

These remarks were made by the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Kavinder Gupta while addressing a programme organized by the cultural and literary organisation 'Tehzeeb - The Culture of Love' at Ludhiana.

Appreciating the efforts of the organisation, Kavinder Gupta said that poetry is as relevant today as it has ever been. "Poetry speaks of positivity, and therefore its need will always remain," he observed. He described poetry as truth-universal, eternal and forever relevant. While times and circumstances may change, the importance of poetry never diminishes.

The Governor said that as long as creation exists, the need for poetry will continue because it is through poetry that our culture, our tehzeeb and our heritage remain alive. He added that Mushairas and Kavi Darbars are not merely literary gatherings but important cultural platforms that connect people with their roots and heritage. Such events strengthen the culture of dialogue and reinforce the values of brotherhood, harmony, mutual respect and meaningful social interaction.

Earlier, Anil Bharti, Chairman of the organisation, briefed the Governor about its activities and achievements. He informed that Tehzeeb has been continuously working to promote culture, civilisation, literature and poetry, besides organizing three to four Kavi Darbars and Mushairas every year in Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and other languages. He stated that Tehzeeb aims to strengthen the bond between various languages and India's rich cultural heritage, traditions and spirit of brotherhood so that the dignity and significance of these languages remain intact.

Present on the occasion were the organisation's President Mukesh Aalam, Vice President Surinder Khanna, General Secretary Ashok Dhir, Joint Secretary Rakesh Kharbanda, Finance Secretary Rajinder Sharma, Stage Secretary Chhaya Sharma and Organising Secretary Manish Kakkar.
