The PanIIT Andhra Pradesh Summit, bringing together alumni and expertise from all 23 IITs, is being positioned as a platform to strengthen this research-to-industry pipeline. Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh’s next phase of economic growth could depend on its ability to convert knowledge into research, research into innovation and innovation into globally competitive enterprises. The PanIIT Andhra Pradesh Summit, bringing together alumni and expertise from all 23 IITs, is being positioned as a platform to strengthen this research-to-industry pipeline.Scheduled to be held in Vijayawada, the summit comes at a time when technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors, robotics, biotechnology, space technology and clean energy are reshaping global economies. For Andhra Pradesh, the opportunity lies not only in attracting technology firms but also in creating an ecosystem where talent, research, capital and industry work together.PanIIT Alumni India chairman Prabhat Kumar said the state’s global diaspora and strengths in emerging technologies could help it evolve into a technology and innovation hub. Summit chairman Swadeep Pillarisetti said the initiative aims to connect technology, capital and skills across govt, industry and the IIT network.Organisers point to global examples such as Silicon Valley, Germany’s research ecosystem and Taiwan’s semiconductor sector, where collaboration among universities, research institutions and industry has driven economic growth. Andhra Pradesh now seeks to build a similar cycle in which talent drives research, research leads to prototypes, prototypes become startups and successful ventures attract capital and create jobs.The proposed PanIIT Amaravati Council, Global IIT Mentor Network and DeepTech investment mechanisms could provide institutional support for this effort. The summit is also expected to discuss industry-backed Centres of Excellence, technology transfer, fellowships and startup incubation.PanIIT vice-chairman Amitabh Ranjan said Andhra Pradesh’s coastline, mineral resources, connectivity and talent pool provide strong foundations for technology-led growth.
