Nepal has sent diplomatic notes to India, China over Lipulekh dispute: PM
KATHMANDU, May 31: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said that the government has already sent diplomatic notes to both India and China to address the ongoing Lipulekh border dispute.
Responding to a question raised by CPN-UML lawmaker Padma Aryal in the House of Representatives, Prime Minister Shah said both neighboring countries had responded positively to Nepal’s diplomatic initiative and expressed openness to resolving the issue through dialogue.
He also informed Parliament that Nepal has also initiated discussions with the United Kingdom regarding the long-standing border issue between Nepal and India.
According to the Prime Minister, formal communication has been made with the British government concerning historical agreements, documents, and records from the time of “British India” and Nepal.
He added that efforts are currently underway to collect and review historical evidence to support a lasting resolution to the border dispute.
