Montreal Victoire to celebrate historic Walter Cup win downtown today
CBC will be covering the festivities live
Montreal’s newest champions are taking a victory lap downtown today.
The Montreal Victoire will celebrate their Walter Cup win with a fan event and gathering at the Quartier des spectacles.
After a march down Ste-Catherine Street between Bleury and Clark streets, players and coaching staff will address fans gathered at Place des Festivals at 11 a.m. The free public event is scheduled to wrap up around 1 p.m.
The celebration comes over a week after the Victoire defeated the Ottawa Charge 4-0 to clinch the first Walter Cup title by a Canadian team in PWHL history.
Montreal sealed the victory with a dominant third period, scoring three times in the final 10 minutes of the game. Goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens earned the shutout, while captain Marie-Philip Poulin once again delivered on the biggest stage.

Today’s event is expected to draw large crowds as fans celebrate a milestone moment not only for the franchise, but for women’s hockey in Montreal and across Canada.
The team signed Montreal’s Livre d’or this week, the city’s honorary guest book, as part of the championship celebrations.
