Emergency response to moorland fire scaled back
Firefighters have made "significant progress" at the scene of a major moorland fire as the emergency response is scaled back, officials have said.
Crews were first called to Tintwistle Moor, near Glossop, on 24 June, and a major incident was declared on 13 July.
Analysis of data from the European Forest Fire Information System by BBC Verify previously estimated the fire had burned 606 hectares (1,497 acres) - equivalent to 900 football pitches.
In an update on Sunday, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue said "significant progress" had been made and firefighters remained in place to check the affected area and reduce the risk of re-ignition.

A spokesperson for the service said: "While this remains an active fireground, we hope to be able to bring more positive news in the next couple of days as monitoring and assessment work continues."
On Friday, the A628 Woodhead Pass reopened, but Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said motorists should still expect some delays between Tintwistle and Crowden due to temporary traffic lights.
The service added it had witnessed visitors returning to the Peak District but urged people to follow closures, signs or instructions from emergency services and partner agencies.
DFRS also said anyone visiting the area could help prevent further wildfires by not using barbecues, campfires or gas stoves on moorland, and by ensuring litter is taken home.
Members of the public have also been reminded not to discard cigarette ends and to remove glass bottles, which can magnify sunlight and increase the risk of fire.
