World record watch | News | Budapest 26 | World Athletics Ultimate Championships
The World Athletics Ultimate Championship is first and foremost about titles. But when fields this strong come together, history has a habit of forcing its way into the conversation.
Some events arrive in Budapest already glowing red. The women’s 800m brings together Audrey Werro, Femke Broeders-Bol and Keely Hodgkinson. The men’s pole vault has Mondo Duplantis and Emmanouil Karalis pushing the event into rare air. Three hurdles world records have already fallen this year – in the men’s 110m hurdles, women’s 100m hurdles and men’s 400m hurdles – and all three record-breakers will be in Budapest.
Yan Ziyi could threaten again in the javelin, while both mixed relays offer the kind of chaos where records can fall fast.
If history happens in Budapest on 11-13 September, this is where the record watch becomes the record report.
