Watch the 'Street Fighter' 2026 movie trailer that previews Noah Centineo as Ken Masters and Andrew Koji as Ryu, among star
The official trailer for the forthcoming Street Fighter movie was released on Thursday, giving fans a first look at Ken Masters, Ryu and Chun-Li — among other characters — unleashing their signature moves on each other. The live-action movie is based on the long-running, beloved video game series of the same name that dominated the arcade scene and was iconic in ’90s pop culture.
In the nearly three-minute trailer, we get a sense that Ken (Noah Centineo) is really working through something as his best friend and fierce rival, Ryu (Andrew Koji), shows up, and a fight scene, albeit a comedic one, ensues.
Meanwhile, Chun-Li (Callina Liang) is recruiting fighters from around the globe for the World Warrior Tournament as we see other signature characters fighting in epic one-on-one battles. There are also some Easter eggs in the trailer, like Ken’s “car smash” in the bonus stages of the Street Fighter II game, as well as a cheeky reference to Chun-Li’s notoriously large and powerful thighs.
The film, directed by Kitao Sakurai and written by Dalan Musson, is set to release in theaters on Oct. 16, 2026. Legendary Japanese video game developer Capcom coproduced the film, and it’s being distributed by Paramount.
It isn’t the first rodeo for Street Fighter on the big screen. The 2026 film follows the 1994 film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia, Ming-Na Wen and Kylie Minogue, and 2009’s Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.
Here’s what else we know about the film.
What’s the plot of the new Street Fighter?
Here’s the official logline of the movie: “Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!”
