Vendor Notebook: New AI releases span a spectrum of healthcare touchpoints

Artificial intelligence platforms, tools and integrations aim to enhance patient medical record access, improve care transitions, and assure AI quality and security. Health systems are also exploring ambient charting for nurses and surgical intelligence.

Here's a brief list of just some of the AI news and notes we've been watching this month.

Mount Sinai Medical Center has expanded its use of Epic's ambient charting tools, becoming the fourth health system in the U.S. to allow nurses to decrease their charting time overall, according to an announcement on Tuesday.

Physicians at the health system have used Epic's Art for Clinicians since it was released earlier this year and have reduced the time they spend in the chart per encounter by nearly 30%, Mount Sinai said.

That, along with engaging nurses on process changes with frontline technologies, gave Mount Sinai the confidence to bring Chart with Art to its nurses, the health system said.

"Our nurses came into this profession to care for people," said Wendy Stuart, Mount Sinai's chief nursing officer, in a statement. "Chart with Art lets them step out from behind the keyboard and be fully present at the bedside. That presence is where care begins."

"Their nurses helped us get it right – capturing more of what their shifts involve as it happens," added Corey Miller, Epic's vice president of research and development. "With their physicians expanding their use too, more of the care team can stay engaged with the patient rather than the documentation."

WellSky announced the launch of its new care transition intelligence dashboards within its CarePort software suite to help hospitals identify the causes of discharge bottlenecks and track patient patterns across networks to improve outcomes.

The intelligence dashboards embed visual insights directly into daily workflows.

An enhanced set of reporting capabilities also improves visibility into referral activity and performance trends, the company said. Market data from the WellSky network, which connects more than 2,000 hospitals and 120,000 post-acute and community providers, helps organizations compare and understand how their transition performance compares to their peers across their state and the wider network.

"The next phase of care coordination will be defined by how effectively organizations turn data into action," said Bill Miller, WellSky chairman and CEO, in a statement. "As care transitions become more complex, having clear, real-time visibility across networks isn't just valuable, it's foundational to simplifying the transition process and delivering better patient outcomes."

Thrive Mobile has integrated HealthEx patient authentication tech, enabling customers to assemble a longitudinal health record without a separate application. HealthEx locates and returns records across the national interoperability network and keeps them current, the company said.

Members can also save a QR code to share their medical records with providers at the point of care.

"We want every American to carry a medical-record QR code in their wallet that transacts their records where and how they need them, and with the device in a member's hand," said John Anderson, Thrive Mobile's founder and CEO, in a statement. "With partners like HealthEx behind the experience, we can finally make that real for the people the system usually leaves last."

By embedding medical record access into mobile onboarding, the capability advances the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services patient interoperability goals and the CMS "Kill the Clipboard" initiative.

Social determinants like income, ZIP code and digital access stack the odds against patients on Medicaid, leaving them to track down their health records, added Priyanka Agarwal, HealthEx cofounder and CEO.

"The patients who can least afford to are often the ones asked to bear the greatest burdens of care navigation," she said.

Proximie, a vendor of an intelligent operating room platform, announced a multi-year partnership with UC San Diego Health to deploy ambient AI infrastructure that relies on NVIDIA's open models in 44 ORs and procedure rooms across four hospitals.

The Intelligence Suite platform captures real-time images and procedural data, delivers predictions and surfaces actionable notifications directly to nurses, surgeons, anesthesiologists and operational leaders to improve workflows and results, the company said on July 23.

The health system will use the platform to build an increasingly intelligent perioperative environment at enterprise scale.

"What we are building with UC San Diego Health is a system-wide commitment to the intelligent OR of the future," said Nadine Hachach-Haram, Proximie founder and CEO, in a statement. "By capturing not only sensor data but full surgical video from every room, our intelligence layer can turn what actually happens in the OR into clear next steps for the teams delivering care."

Through a collaboration with HybridChart and athenahealth, a new add-on capability in the athenaOne electronic health record can help stop revenue leakage through real-time documentation.

Called Mobile Charge Capture, the feature helps ambulatory physicians and clinicians record professional charges in real time while rounding across hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and other care settings, the company said on July 28.

With paper-based charge capture, physicians rely solely on memory and handwritten notes, which can introduce errors and delay reimbursements. With the new capability in their EHRs, physicians can save time on their administrative work and help to reduce delays between care delivery and charge entry, improving financial performance while simplifying documentation workflows for clinicians, the EHR vendor said.

Customers using the feature have already reported average revenue gains of 8-10%, athenahealth said.

Mithra Technologies, a subsidiary of cybersecurity and content security firm ShelterZoom, announced the launch of a trust infrastructure for enterprise AI. The data lineage and governance platform is an "AI refinery" that enables organizations to verify every AI response against trusted data, according to the company.

Mithra AI works across and on top of AI models, including large language models like OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and Grok, to establish a secure trust layer with cryptographic proof. Whether used for modernizing legacy infrastructure or building new AI applications, the platform delivers a verifiable chain of custody and blockchain-backed, post-quantum security to help organizations reduce AI hallucinations, unauthorized data use, compliance risk and emerging threats, the company said on July 20.

"Just as cybersecurity became a foundational layer for the internet, and is now a $200 billion-plus market, trust infrastructure will become a foundational layer for the AI economy," said Chao Cheng-Shorland, ShelterZoom and Mithra Technologies CEO and cofounder, in a statement. "We believe every AI-generated response, decision and model interaction will require cryptographic trust, provenance, lineage and governance."

Oracle began its release of NetSuite 2026.2 in North America this month.

New AI capabilities for enterprise resource planning include the Ask Oracle conversational AI assistant, contextual intelligence, agentic workflows and a dashboard specifically for healthcare revenue cycles. The goal is to help users move naturally from questions to answers and system actions, so Ask Oracle follows existing roles, permissions, reporting structures and business configurations to provide authorized answers with citations, the company said on July 15.

The new healthcare dashboard gives patient care and billing team leaders visibility into revenue, collections, payer mix, provider performance, visit volume and more across operations.
