Representative image Match Group the parent company of popular dating apps Tinder and OkCupid is now investing millions in the new AI dating service of Hinge fonder McLeod. Overtone, which is modern matchmaking company founded by Hinge creator Justin McLeod has revealed that it has raised $18 million in its recent seed round. The company is working on creating a voice and audio-forward matchmaking service enabled by AI and grounded in relationship science, designed to offer highly curated introductions. “Justin McLeod grew Hinge into one of the leading dating apps across the western world, and at Overtone he is redesigning dating and connection all over again. Investors in the round include FirstMark Capital, Pace Capital, and Match Group. The service is not yet open to the public but is expected to be available in select locations by the end of the year,” said the company in a release.Overtone’s board of directors includes psychotherapist and New York Times bestselling author Esther Perel, executive leadership advisor and founder of The Signal Institute Diana Chapman, and Spencer Rascoff, CEO of Match Group. McLeod serves as Chairman and CEO.McLeod said: “My whole career has been built on the bet that technology can help people in their search for love, supporting them to find lasting, fulfilling relationships. Overtone is the fullest expression of that belief.
