The World of Motorcycling- News detail
Twelve rounds, nine countries and three continents: the provisional 2027 FIM Superbike World Championship calendar takes the Championship from Australia in February to China in October, with a European schedule featuring returning favourites and plenty of opportunities to see all four classes in action. Here’s what fans need to know.
One more visit to Phillip Island
The season begins at Phillip Island on 19-21 February, with WorldSBK and WorldSSP opening their campaigns at the Australian circuit.
The weekend will mark WorldSBK’s last appearance at Phillip Island before the Australian Round moves to The Bend in 2028. Its fast, flowing layout and coastal setting have made it a distinctive part of the Championship, giving the 2027 opener added significance for riders and fans alike.
Preparations begin just days earlier, with the official WorldSBK and WorldSSP test taking place at the circuit on 15-16 February.
All four classes together in Europe
Portimao welcomes WorldSBK back to Europe on 19-21 March and marks the start of the WorldSPB and WorldWCR seasons. Both classes will hold their official test at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve on 15 March.
Valencia returns as Spain hosts two rounds
The Circuit Ricardo Tormo returns to the WorldSBK calendar on 02-04 April, hosting the third round of the season and the second European event.
Located near Valencia, the circuit, which previously hosted WorldSBK from 2000 to 2010, features a stadium-style layout, offering fans views across much of the track. With WorldSBK, WorldSSP, WorldSPB and WorldWCR all racing, there will be plenty to follow throughout the weekend.
Valencia joins MotorLand Aragón as one of two Spanish venues on the 2027 calendar. Jerez will not host WorldSBK next season due to ongoing renovation works.
European favourites through spring and summer
After Valencia, WorldSBK heads to Assen in April and Aragón in May, before June visits to Most and Misano. Donington Park hosts the final round before the summer break on 9-11 July, with the WorldSPB class making its first appearance on the Leicestershire track.
The season resumes at Magny-Cours in early September, followed by Cremona later that month. Estoril completes the European schedule on 15-17 October and hosts the final round of WorldSPB’s eight-round campaign.
The 2027 campaign concludes at Shanghai International Circuit on 29-31 October, two weeks after the penultimate round at Estoril.
Located in the northwest of the city in the Jiading District, the Shanghai International Circuit, designed by renowned architect Hermann Tilke, was inaugurated in 2004 and since then has played host to a variety of international and regional series.
WorldSBK’s debut in China is the culmination of the Championship’s expansion effort and the strengthening of strong bonds with a fast-growing motorcycle industry.
China will provide the setting for the final WorldSBK and WorldSSP races of the year, with WorldSSP joining WorldSBK at all 12 rounds across the season.
The FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship will race alongside WorldSBK at six events in 2027, beginning at Portimao and concluding at Cremona.
Valencia follows the Portuguese opener, before visits to Most and Misano in June. After the summer break, Magny-Cours hosts the penultimate round ahead of the finale in Italy on 24-26 September.
