Teen dead after being shot in North York: police
Shooting happened near Jane Street and Finch Avenue W., police said
A teen boy is dead after he was shot in North York Monday afternoon, Toronto police say.
Officers responded to a shooting at Jane Street and Finch Avenue W. at around 3:35 p.m., Insp. Dan Pravica told reporters at the scene.
Police found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound, he said.
The teen died after being transported to the hospital, Pravica said.
Supt. Jack Gurr with Toronto police's 31 Division called it "a very, very sad day" for the community.
"There is a family in our division who has been traumatized and has a loved one who's not coming home," he said.
"For the person who did this: Get a lawyer, and turn yourself in."
Police said the homicide unit is investigating. No suspect information is available at this time, they said.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact police.
