Team Canada showcased its skill and depth of talent at the 2026 Canada Cup International Softball Championship in South Surrey, emerging victorious after going undefeated the entire tournament, culminating with a thrilling final Sunday, when they posted a convincing 7-3 victory over Team China.
After 10 days of world-class competition and nearly 500 games played across five divisions, the 2026 Canada Cup International Softball Championship came to a close Sunday evening (July 12) at Softball City in South Surrey.
Team Canada played Team China in the anticipated Canada Cup finale and ended up keeping the win on the home pitch, defeating Team China and capturing the Women’s International Division title.
The Canadian Women’s National Team dominated in most of the games they played throughout the July 3-12 tournament, earning more than one shutout during the round robin portion at Softball City.
Team Canada started off Monday (July 6) with a 12-1 win over Brazil, followed by a 7-0 victory over Venezuela Tuesday and a 12-2 win vs. New Zealand Wednesday in round robin play.
They followed that with two more wins Thursday, earning a 10-0 shutout vs. Czechia and a 16-4 win over China.
On Friday, Team Canada completed their last round-robin game, defeating Chinese Taipei Development 14-0. This put them at the top of their pool.
Saturday saw the hosts outscoring their oppenents 22-2 across two playoff victories. Team Canada opened the day with an 8-1 win over Chinese Taipei and punched their ticket to the finale with a 14-1 victory over China.
“The 2026 Canada Cup showcased everything that makes this tournament so special, from world-class competition to incredible sportsmanship and unforgettable moments both on and off the field,” Canada Cup president Greg Timm said in a release.
Featuring players from Surrey, Delta, Langley, Maple Ridge and from across the country, Team Canada — fresh off a first-place finish at the 2026 WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group Stage in Czechia, where they recently secured qualification for the 2027 WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals in Redcliffe, Australia — the fastpitch players competed against teams from across North America, South America, Asia, Oceania and Europe.
Now in its 31st year, the Canada Cup welcomes more than 1,500 international athletes each year and draws thousands of fans through the gates at Softball City.
“This tournament reminded us that sport has the power to unite people from the world,” said Timm.
Since its inception, the event has grown into one of the most respected international softball tournaments in the world, serving as a key development and competition platform for Olympic and national team athletes. The tournament annually attracts elite players, college scouts, international federations, and thousands of fans to Surrey, helping cement B.C. as a destination for world-class sport.
“The future of women’s softball has never looked bright,” said Timm in the release.
Throughout the week, fans in attendance had the chance to see the outstanding performances from some of the world’s top softball talent, which led to the announcement of the 2026 Canada Cup International Division All-Star Team.
Erika Polidori from Brantford, Ont.and Morgan Rackel from Calgary are two Team Canada members who were recognized for their game play and recruited onto the All-Star team.

“From our international division to the young athletes competing throughout the week, Canada Cup continues to inspire the next generation while providing a world-class stage for the very best players in the sport,” Timm said before thanking the athletes, volunteers and everyone else involved in making this championship possible.
Softball City is now in preparation for the 2027 Canada Cup, which will return to Softball City from July 2 to 11, 2027.
