Successful AI adoption lies in collaboration, not replacement
Akio Ueda joined Kansai Electric Power in 1997. Since 2024, as head of the IT strategy office, he has been engaged in initiatives to enhance productivity and create value through the promotion of digital transformation (DX). After formulating a DX/AI strategy to prepare for the AI industrial revolution, Akio is driving the transformation from a traditional Japanese company (JTC) to an AI-first company (AIFC) through strategic collaboration with OpenAI, enabling all employees to fully leverage generative AI as a weapon.
Akio is also a member of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Task Force on Human Resource Development (business architecture/data management),and is a visiting professor at Kansai University.
