Startups INERA, CropNXT in pact to bring biological agri

Agri-startups INERA Crop Science and CropNXT Solutions have signed a multi-year strategic partnership to distribute biological crop inputs to smallholder farmers across five eastern States, the companies said on Monday.

The tie-up will cover Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha, targeting some 65 lakh farmers over the life of the agreement through a network of more than 5,000 retailers and channel partners, the companies said in a statement.

Under the deal, INERA will supply its portfolio of biological agricultural inputs – products derived from soil microbes and natural nutrient cycles – while CropNXT will handle distribution through its existing retail and dealer network in the region.

The companies aim to expand adoption of biological inputs across roughly 20 lakh acres of cultivated land.

The partnership is projected to unlock a business potential of around ₹500 crore, reflecting the significant market opportunity for science-led biological agricultural solutions across India.

"Climate change is already visible in the fields of Indian smallholder farmers through heat stress, pest pressure and rising input costs," said Agam Khare, founder of INERA Crop Science. "This partnership with CropNXT is about taking that belief to the ground at scale." Ajeet Singh Chahal, founder of CropNXT, said the deal would bring "science-led, sustainable solutions that are relevant today and essential for the future of agriculture" to the company's existing distribution network.

India's biological agri-input market has grown rapidly in recent years as farmers face mounting pressure from input costs, erratic rainfall and soil degradation. Biological products, which use naturally occurring organisms rather than synthetic chemicals, have attracted increased government support as part of broader efforts to reduce the environmental impact of farming.
