Hyundai Engineering & Construction will strengthen cooperation with startups to expand the field application of innovative technologies in the construction safety field.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on the 9th that it held the "2026 H-Safe Open Innovation Demo Day" at the start-up venture campus Seoul in Mapo-gu, Seoul, and shared the results of collaboration with start-ups in the construction and safety sector. Twelve startups, including companies selected at the "2026 H-Safe Open Innovation Challenge" in March and companies participating in existing open innovation programs, introduced various technologies and cooperation cases, including generative artificial intelligence (AI), virtual convergence technology (VR/XR), and safety education platforms.
Participating companies held technology exhibitions, investment presentations (IRs), and presentations of cooperation cases, and business meetings between the construction industry and investment institutions continued. C Tech Solution announced the field application of the mobile-based multilingual safety and health education platform, and Silicon Cube announced the operation performance of the AI image analysis-based construction equipment license plate recognition and automatic inspection system.
In January this year, Hyundai E&C signed a business agreement with the Seoul Economic Promotion Agency, the Seoul Creative Economy Innovation Center, and the Korea Institute of Construction Technology to jointly discover construction safety innovation companies and operate open innovation programs. The company is in charge of planning and operating the competition, and the participating organizations are in charge of commercialization and linkage of follow-up support projects, and support the growth and application of startups on the field.
Hyundai E&C is also continuously expanding its open innovation program. Since 2022, it has been operating various open innovation programs such as startup competitions. Last year, 48 startups were selected through 15 programs to promote technology verification (PoC), joint R&D, joint commercialization, and new product development.
Meanwhile, about 150 people attended the event, including Hyundai E&C executives and employees, start-up support organizations such as the Seoul Economic Promotion Agency, the Seoul Creative Economy Innovation Center, and the Korea Institute of Construction Technology, construction safety-related organizations, venture capital, and accelerator (AC).
