Stabbed teen was kind and strong, say family

A 16-year-old boy who was stabbed to death was both kind and strong, his family have said.

Khadeem Parris died at the scene in Adnitt Road, in the Abington area of Northampton, on the evening of 7 July.

In a statement issued by Northamptonshire Police, the family described Khadeem - who was from Motherwell in Scotland - as an "amazing" sibling to his older brother and younger sister.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

"Khadeem was such a funny, smiling boy. He was always singing, he loved a joke, and he was such a kind son – he had a kindness inside of him," his family said.

"He had such strength too. He had coped with such a lot in his young life and he was making plans and so looking forward to the future."

They said he was excited to be starting college in August to study to be a plumber and electrician, but that he also loved computer games and football.

Khadeem enjoyed play fighting with his brother and sister, they added.

"A special handshake marked their friendship and closeness," they continued.

"Words can't explain how we feel at this time. We cannot understand it and we are utterly heartbroken at his loss."

On Saturday, Northamptonshire Police said the 21-year-old suspect remained in custody.

Two men, aged 19 and 56, and a 51-year-old woman, have been released on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
