Sri Lanka, India discuss advanced technology for healthcare sector

Colombo, Sep. 7 (Daily Mirror) - The government is exploring the use of advanced technological tools to strengthen Sri Lanka’s healthcare system, with a particular focus on medical research, development and the management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

The matter was discussed during a meeting between Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni and a delegation of leading Indian biotechnology experts.

According to the Ministry of Health, the discussions centred on enhancing health and technological cooperation between Sri Lanka and India.

The meeting also examined opportunities to introduce advanced technologies to strengthen the country’s medical research and development capabilities and improve the detection, management and treatment of NCDs.

NCDs remain a major health challenge in Sri Lanka, with the proposed technological initiatives expected to support efforts to improve healthcare services and patient outcomes.
