A driver has been arrested after a pedestrian was killed when he was a hit by a car.

Ismail Mohammed, 68, died after he was struck by the vehicle on Stratford Road, in Hall Green, Birmingham, at about 20:45 BST on Thursday.

A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving "after urgent inquiries", and had since been bailed pending further investigation, West Midlands Police said.

In a tribute, Mohammed's family said he "gave so much love to his family, friends, his community and anyone that ever met him".

"He was always the first person to celebrate your good news and made so many contributions to his community," his family's statement added.

"He made friends and community wherever he went, and we are all at a loss without him."

Officers previously confirmed the incident happened near Aldi and the road's junction with Wycome Road and appealed for anyone with more information or dashcam footage to come forward.
