Small-business leaders press Minister Lee Soyoung for concrete reforms in South Korea
The Korea Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises invited Minister Lee So-young of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups on the 8th and said it held a tea meeting with heads of small-business organizations.
At this tea meeting, 15 people attended, including KBIZ Chairman Kim Ki-mun. The organization heads asked the Minister to flesh out the regulatory reforms and plans for small businesses to take part in large national projects that Lee presented during the confirmation hearing and inaugural address. They urged efforts so that small businesses can take their place as key players in the economy.
Chairman Kim proposed to the Minister that they meet frequently with heads of small-business organizations to discuss pending issues and find solutions together. Kim said, "The gap between large and small businesses is getting worse," and noted, "Polarization is an issue that the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) and the small-business community must work on together, and for that, it is important for small businesses to participate in national projects and share tangible effects of economic revitalization."
