Search underway for 2 paddleboarders who fell into lake near Squamish, police say
RCMP say they are investigating after the pair failed to resurface at Browning Lake in Murrin Provincial Park
Two people are missing after falling from their paddleboards at Browning Lake in Murrin Provincial Park near Squamish, B.C., according to police.
In a statement, the Sea to Sky RCMP said they received a report at about 3 p.m. Saturday that the individuals had fallen off their boards and failed to resurface.
RCMP said officers are at the park, with help from RCMP Air Services, Squamish Search and Rescue, Squamish Fire Rescue and park rangers.
Murrin Provincial Park, located just south of Squamish, off Highway 99, is closed while the investigation and search continue.
The incident has also led to traffic delays on Highway 99 with a partial lane closure on the Sea-to-Sky Highway, according to DriveBC. Drivers are being told to expect delays and watch for crews on scene.
