Quebec paramedics reach tentative deal with government after negotiation blitz

Paramedics have been without a contract since April 2023

After more than three years without a collective agreement, the CSN-affiliated unions representing Quebec paramedics said it has reached an agreement in principle with the government.

The deal was reached late Saturday night following an intensive round of negotiations held from July 20 to 25.

The Fédération de la santé et des services sociaux (FSSS-CSN)—which represents 3,500 Quebec paramedics, including over 1,000 at Urgences-santé — said in statement on its website that the agreement will be presented to its members as soon as possible.

"They are the ones who will have the final say on its adoption," said Jean Gagnon, head of the pre-hospital sector at the FSSS-CSN.

Until then, no details regarding the content of the deal will be released.

Pressure tactics have been suspended pending the vote, with the exception of uniform-related actions.

France-Élaine Duranceau, who heads Quebec's Treasury Board also announced that a tentative agreement had been reached in a social media post on X.

"As in all negotiations, the details will remain confidential until the members have voted on the content of the agreement," she wrote.
