Ottawa man charged in fatal crash at Rideau Street drop-in
An Ottawa man has been charged in a fatal crash in February when a vehicle drove into the entrance of a downtown drop-in centre, Ottawa police said Monday.
On Feb. 25, an SUV slammed into the entrance of the Capital City Mission at the corner of Rideau and Cobourg streets, killing a man in his 70s and injuring four others.
Abdelkader Amorouayeche, 38, driver has been charged with one count of careless driving causing death and two counts of careless driving causing bodily harm, police said in a news release.
"Our thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of the person who died, as well as those affected by this collision," police wrote in the release.
