One NZ Stadium at Te Kaha stages sold

A sold out crowd of around 37,000 people attended Christchurch's One NZ Stadium at Te Kaha last night for the venue's first concert event.

Featuring acts including Six60, Synthony, Kaylee Bell and Cassie Henderson, the five and a half hour celebration on the venue's enormous stage.

Promoted as a historic moment for both Christchurch and the wider New Zealand live entertainment industry, the 'Once In A Lifetime' event attracted fans from across the country eager to experience the first concert staged at the newly opened venue.

Speaking when the concert was announced last year, members of SIX60 said Christchurch held special significance for the band, noting it was the first city to ever book them for a live performance.

The concert represented a major operational test for the $683 million venue, which officially opened earlier this year and has been designed as a multi-purpose facility capable of hosting sport, concerts and major entertainment events year-round.

Writing about the concert on social media this morning, Venues Ōtautahi Chief Executive, Caroline Harvie-Teare advised "what an incredible night of entertainment.

"Thank you Six60, Synthony, Kaylee Bell, Cassie Henderson and Castaway for curating an event fitting of the moment."

The opening concert was presented by Mānuka Phuel in association with Kiwibank and supported through the New Zealand Government’s Events Boost Fund.
