Murder arrest after woman's death in house
A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in her 50s, police have said.
North West Ambulance Service called officers from Merseyside Police to an address on St Ambrose Croft, Netherton, at about 10:00 BST.
"At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries remain ongoing to determine the full circumstances of what happened," a police spokesperson said.
A 30-year-old woman from Netherton has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody, they added.
A post mortem is to be carried out to establish the cause of death.
Det Insp Sara Lang said: "Our thoughts at this time are with the family of the woman who has sadly passed way.
"As this matter is clearly in the very early stages, we would ask people to avoid speculating and allow us to carry out our enquiries."
She said that although they had arrested a person in connection with the investigation they were still appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
