Masats brings AI to bus accessibility with AIDA system, new doors and ramps at FIAA 2026

Masats will unveil new passenger access and accessibility solutions for urban buses and coaches at FIAA 2026 in Madrid, with artificial intelligence integrated into its latest door technology.

The Spanish company will showcase again the new AIDA (Artificial Intelligence Door Access) system alongside its latest sliding doors and accessibility ramps at the International Bus and Coach Trade Fair, scheduled to take place in Madrid from 22 to 24 September 2026.

Computer vision and real-time image analysis are at the core of AIDA, which is designed to identify passengers requiring additional boarding time or assistance and adjust door operation accordingly.

Masats AIDA brings AI-based passenger detection to bus doors

AIDA is Masats’ new AI-based passenger access system, first showcased at Busworld in October 2025. According to information released by Masats ahead of FIAA 2026, the technology uses computer vision and real-time image analysis to identify passengers who may require additional time or assistance when boarding a vehicle.

The door system can then automatically adapt its operation to the detected passenger. Masats specifies passengers with reduced mobility and people with other specific accessibility needs among the intended users of the technology.

The manufacturer states that AIDA is designed to address accessibility and safety during boarding and alighting, as well as dwell times and passenger flows at bus stops.

At FIAA, AIDA will be integrated with the new Masats 028d lightweight sliding door. The 028d will also feature PIS-L (Passenger Information System Light), an integrated passenger information system based on a red-green light interface that indicates the status of the door to passengers during boarding and alighting.

The 028d will be exhibited together with the RT1 telescopic ramp, combining the door and ramp in an integrated passenger access configuration.

New Masats 028e door and Dual RD1 ramp for front bus entrances

A second new product for the urban bus segment will be the Masats 028e single-leaf sliding door. Its opening movement is inclined, allowing the system to be installed at the vehicle’s front entrance.

Masats will pair the 028e with its Dual RD1 accessibility ramp. The ramp combines electric operation with a manual backup function, providing a second operating mode for passenger access when required.

The 028d with RT1 ramp and the 028e with Dual RD1 therefore represent two separate door and ramp configurations that Masats will display for urban bus applications at FIAA 2026.

SWYNCRO passenger door system targets coach applications

Masats will also use FIAA 2026 to present SWYNCRO for the coach segment. The passenger door system has been developed for long-distance vehicle applications.

According to Masats, SWYNCRO combines a compact design with operational reliability, safety requirements and performance characteristics intended for coach operations.

The urban bus and coach products will form part of the company’s passenger access technology display at the Madrid exhibition, covering door systems, accessibility ramps, passenger information and AI-based passenger detection.
