Surrey Police said officers were called to the crash outside a Sainsbury's Local shop on the A322 Worplesdon Road, in Guildford, at about 22:30 BST on Saturday.
The pedestrian, a man aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene, said the force. His next of kin have been informed.
