Korea Venture Investment Hosts Overseas Expansion IR for Promising Startups in Four Major Startup Cities

Korea Venture Investment announced on the 16th that it hosted the 'Promising Startup Overseas Expansion IR in 4 Major Startup Cities' event, supporting global investment attraction and overseas expansion for promising startups based in Daejeon, Daegu, Gwangju, and Ulsan, which have been designated as priority startup cities by the government.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups had previously designated regions with established infrastructure for nurturing outstanding talent—namely, the locations of the four major Institutes of Science and Technology—as startup cities in April. In response, Korea Venture Investment organized this event to offer network building opportunities to regional startups, which have traditionally had fewer connections to overseas investors compared to those in the Seoul metropolitan area.

The event consisted of pitching (IR) sessions where each company could introduce its innovative technology and global expansion vision, as well as customized one-on-one meetings that allowed for direct Q&A between companies and investors. Through these meetings, participating companies received mentoring on strategies for entering overseas markets and evaluated the potential for attracting investment.

Daehee Lee, CEO of Korea Venture Investment, stated, "I hope this event will serve as a platform for startups in the four major startup cities to grow into global unicorns, and that it will be a meaningful opportunity for investors to discover hidden gems in the regions."

Korea Venture Investment launched the IR brand 'Keynect' this year to connect startups with both domestic and international investors. Following previous Keynect initiatives in Jeonbuk, Ulsan, and Gangwon, the organization opened the Keynect Glocal program and plans to further expand to Daejeon and Jeonnam-Gwangju and beyond.
