Kensington Palace marks Prince George's 13th birthday with new photo

George, the 2nd in line for the throne, will attend Eton College in September

Prince George turned 13 on Wednesday, and Kensington Palace released a new photo of the young royal to mark the occasion.

The photo, posted on X, shows the son of Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales looking at ease in a dark suit with an open-collar white shirt and his hands in his pockets.

Photographer Matt Porteous took the photo last month at the Trooping the Colour ceremony, according to the BBC.

George, the grandson of King Charles, is second in line for the throne after his father. He’s taken on more public responsibilities as he’s grown older and last December helped his father serve lunch at a London homeless shelter.

He will attend the prestigious Eton College in September, the same school his father attended.

George is the oldest of three children — his sister, Princess Charlotte, is 11, and his brother, Prince Louis, is eight.

“Thank you for all the birthday wishes for George today!” Kensington Palace posted on social media, alongside a video of George hiking, riding on a boat and swinging a cricket bat on a beach.
