'We have been in collab for a long time': PM Modi addresses Indian diaspora in Jakarta, hails partnership with Indonesia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the Indian diaspora in Indonesia's Jakarta during his official visit to the country.

During his address, he thanked the Indian diaspora for organising a vibrant event in Jakarta and expressed gratitude to the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.

"Since I entered Indonesian airspace yesterday, the love I have gotten from the people of Indonesia, I cannot express in words," he said. He also appreciated President Subianto for greeting him at the airport.

PM further praised the energetic performances and the enthusiasm of the Indian diaspora in Jakarta. He also noted that the song 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' is utterly popular in Indonesia.

He also spoke about the "friendship" between India and Indonesia and said that miracles happen when India and Indonesia work together. He recalled that President Subianto had visited India on the ocassion of India's Republic Day and spoke about him saying he has Indian DNA.

"The DNA you talked about, that DNA is made from mutual trust, it is made from the winds from the sea that have guarded our ships to each other's coasts," he said.

"The people of Indonesia have nurtured India-Indonesia ties," he said, adding, "The world's politics might have changed, but the relations between India and Indonesia have remained the same."

He further said that this world is now social media-dominated. "Collab is much talked about now, but India and Indonesia have been collaborating for a long time," PM Modi said.

"Both India and Indonesia are dedicated to growth," he said.

PM Modi further said that when COVID-19 was ravaging the world, the Indian economy was growing. He also said India has recoded exeptional growth even with the West Asia crisis.

"We have had a lot of reforms; that is why India is transforming now," PM Modi said.
