Heavy rain, thunderstorms for GTA: Environment Canada

Water may pool on roads and low-lying areas, visibility likely to be reduced suddenly at times

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms expected in the Greater Toronto Area from late Saturday.

In its special weather statement, the national weather agency said local rainfall amounts could exceed 50 millimetres, beginning late Saturday or early Sunday and ending Sunday evening.

Showers and thunderstorms will repeatedly move through the region, it said.

Water may pool on roads and in low-lying areas and visibility will likely be suddenly reduced at times, the agency warned.
