Global Indian International School (GIIS), Hadapsar, organised a vibrant KG2B Parental Assembly themed “Loom to Legacy – Textiles of India,” celebrating the country’s rich handloom heritage, traditional crafts and cultural diversity. The assembly was designed to introduce young learners to the beauty and significance of Indian textiles while fostering respect and appreciation for the weavers and artisans who preserve these traditions.

The programme commenced with a prayer, setting a peaceful and positive tone for the event. This was followed by the National Pledge, inspiring the young learners to embrace the values of unity, responsibility and pride in the nation.

The highlight of the assembly was a thoughtfully presented skit by the children, depicting the journey of Indian textiles from the traditional loom to modern times. Through simple dialogues, expressive performances and colourful costumes, the students highlighted the importance of handloom, the dedication of Indian weavers and the need to preserve the country’s rich textile legacy.

Adding colour and excitement to the celebration, the children also participated in a vibrant fashion show showcasing traditional Indian attire from different regions and textile traditions. The colourful presentation beautifully captured the spirit of “Unity in Diversity” and offered the audience a glimpse into India’s diverse cultural heritage.

The active participation of the children, along with the enthusiastic presence and support of their parents, made the assembly a meaningful and memorable experience. The event provided an enriching experiential learning opportunity, enabling students to connect classroom concepts with India’s culture, heritage and traditions.

The assembly concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the parents for their enthusiastic participation and continued support. The successful presentation showcased the children’s confidence, creativity and teamwork while nurturing a growing appreciation for India’s rich cultural heritage.
