Addressing the concluding ceremony of Sanskrit Mass 2026, organised by the Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, the Governor said Sanskrit should not be viewed merely as a language of the past, but as a powerful knowledge tradition with contemporary relevance in education, research, technology and global discourse.

The Governor said Sanskrit has played a unique role in connecting different regions of India through a shared intellectual and cultural heritage. From the Vedic traditions of the north to those of the south, Sanskrit has served as a common thread of India's civilisational unity and embodies the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.

He appreciated the efforts of the Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust for taking Sanskrit beyond the confines of traditional scholarship and connecting it with society through a range of activities. Sanskrit processions, anti-drug awareness rallies, free medical camps, plantation initiatives and the Maha Aarti along the Chandrabhaga river demonstrated how cultural traditions can be used to create positive social awareness and community participation.

Kavinder Gupta said the younger generation has a particularly important role in carrying India's knowledge traditions forward. Learning Sanskrit, he said, should not be seen as a return to the past, but as an opportunity to deepen intellectual understanding and strengthen confidence in India's own civilisational heritage.

Referring to the emerging possibilities in Artificial Intelligence and language technology, the Governor called for greater research, digitisation and technological applications of Sanskrit. He said the vast Sanskrit knowledge corpus should be made accessible to younger generations through modern, scientific and user-friendly platforms.

The Governor highlighted the importance accorded to Indian languages and knowledge traditions under the National Education Policy 2020, and said universities, researchers and institutions associated with Sanskrit could play a significant role in taking this knowledge tradition into the digital age.

The concluding ceremony was attended by Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Devansh Yadav, Senior Advocate Abhinav Sharma, State Awardee Mahant Rohit Shastri, Prof. Sharat Chandra Sharma, besides saints, scholars, dignitaries and students.

Presiding over the programme, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj said that Sanskrit is the foundational language of India's cultural consciousness, spiritual strength, and Sanatan knowledge tradition. He emphasized the need to provide the younger generation with knowledge of India's culture, scriptures, and traditions alongside modern education.

Dr. Devansh Yadav, Commissioner said that Indian culture has always advocated a balanced way of life in harmony with nature. He described the distribution of saplings, medical camp, art exhibition, and other public-oriented activities organized during the concluding ceremony of Sanskrit Month as a commendable example of connecting culture with social responsibility.

Senior Advocate Abhinav Sharma, said that the real strength of any society lies in its cultural identity and its connection with its roots. Sanskrit is an important part of India's intellectual and spiritual heritage, while Dogra culture represents the distinctive identity of Jammu.

On the occasion, Mahant Rohit Shastri, State Awardee and President of the Trust, said that the objective of the initiative was not merely to promote the Sanskrit language, but also to take India's knowledge tradition, values, spiritual ideals, and cultural roots to the younger generation through Sanskrit.

On the occasion, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Member and former Judge Suresh Sharma, social worker Vinay Aggarwal, Lucky Sharma and Akhil Gupta were felicitated.
