EVO Entertainment Acquires Former Xscape Theatre for Katy

EVO Entertainment has acquired the former Xscape Theatre property in Fulshear, Texas, with plans to redevelop the site into a nearly 70,000-square-foot cinema and entertainment destination serving the fast-growing Katy-Fulshear market.

The property, located at 26616 FM 1093, will be transformed into a multi-attraction venue combining renovated movie theaters with new family entertainment, dining and event space. Construction is expected to begin soon, with the redeveloped venue scheduled to open in summer 2027.

The project reflects continued investment in suburban entertainment destinations as population growth across the western Houston area creates demand for new dining, recreation and social gathering options. The Katy-Fulshear corridor has become one of the region’s most active residential growth markets, drawing families and new development that support larger-format entertainment concepts.

EVO plans to add approximately 35,000 square feet of new family entertainment space to the existing property. The expansion will include bowling lanes, more than 100 arcade games, a full-service restaurant and bar, private event spaces and attractions such as laser tag, climbing walls, bumper cars and gravity ropes.

The existing cinema will also undergo major renovations. Planned upgrades include two EVX with Dolby Vision® and Dolby Atmos® premium-format auditoriums featuring wall-to-wall screens, enhanced picture quality and immersive sound. The investment is designed to reposition the former theater as a broader entertainment hub rather than a traditional movie-only venue.

“We are thrilled to bring EVO Entertainment to this vibrant and growing community,” said Mitch Roberts, founder and chief executive officer of EVO Entertainment. “This property has long served as a gathering place for local residents, and we are excited to expand upon that legacy while reimagining it for the next generation.”

The redevelopment is intended to serve a range of customer occasions, including family outings, date nights, birthday parties, corporate events and community celebrations. By combining cinema, attractions, food and beverage, and private event capabilities, EVO is positioning the venue to capture multiple revenue streams and increase customer traffic throughout the day and evening.

The acquisition also aligns with broader trends in the theater and location-based entertainment industries, where operators are investing in premium screens, experiential attractions and hospitality offerings to differentiate their venues and respond to changing consumer expectations. Large-format entertainment centers have increasingly become anchors for suburban commercial corridors, especially in markets with strong household growth and limited nearby entertainment inventory.

For EVO, the Fulshear project extends its strategy of creating multi-use entertainment destinations that blend movies, games, dining and social experiences under one roof. The company said additional details on hiring, venue features and grand-opening events will be announced in the coming months.

Once completed, the redeveloped former Xscape Theatre will add a major entertainment asset to the Katy-Fulshear area, giving residents a new destination for cinema, dining, recreation and private events while repurposing an existing property into a larger community-focused venue.
