Elevate your summer with Breckenridge Distillery’s new rye whiskey
Breckenridge Distillery has been crafting award-winning blended bourbons and other whiskeys since its founding in 2008. Recently, the "World's Highest Distillery" announced the launch of an exciting new whiskey that you're guaranteed to want to sip around your summer campfire or mix into your seasonal Whiskey Highball.
Just in time for summer revelry, the Colorado-based distillery is launching Breckenridge Rye Whiskey, a bold, rich expression perfectly suited for sipping neat, on the rocks, or mixed into your favorite whiskey-based cocktails. Distilled at a staggering 9,600 feet of elevation, this new whiskey begins with a mash bill of 80% rye.
According to Breckenridge, the result is a complex, spicy 100-proof whiskey that opens with a nose of chocolate fudge, dried cherries, clover honey, hay, and rich, earthy rye spice. The palate is centered on notes of cocoa powder, caramelized sugar, stone fruit, and peppery rye. The finish is warm, lingering, and ending with more cracked black pepper.
"Rye whiskey has always been one of our favorites. Traditional Rye fans talk a lot about how many of today's offerings lack the big rye notes and the perfect spice balance we enjoyed in decades past. We wanted to bring back classic Rye, bold but in harmony, devoid of the angular oak notes you typically encounter these days. We believe we nailed this one," Bryan Nolt, Founder of Breckenridge Distillery, says.
"We've spent years refining what a Colorado whiskey could be, and this represents some of the most deliberate, exciting work we've ever done as a distillery."
If you want to get your hands on a bottle of Breckenridge Rye Whiskey, it won't be as simple as walking into your local liquor or whiskey retailer. It's currently available for onsite purchase at Colorado whiskey retailers and online for delivery, where available, at the suggested retail price of $34.99 for a 750ml bottle. It will be available at retailers nationwide this summer. Grab a bottle and sip it while you play yard games this summer.
