Egypt’s Paymob Raises USD 35 M To Expand Digital Payments Across MENA
Egyptian fintech Paymob has raised USD 35 M in a pre-Series C round co-led by Mubadala Investment Company and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with participation from British International Investment (BII), Global Ventures and DPI Ventures.
Founded in 2015 by Islam Shawky, Alain El Hajj and Mostafa Menessy, Paymob is headquartered in Cairo, Egypt, and provides payment infrastructure that lets businesses accept online and in-person payments through a single integration.
The latest round brings its disclosed equity funding above USD 125 M. Paymob serves more than 390,000 merchants across Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman, with GCC markets now contributing nearly half of group revenue.
The company plans to use the funding to expand in the Gulf and develop SME tools, including agentic-commerce infrastructure.
