The Sylvan Lake Rotary Club is partnering with the Town of Sylvan Lake for Canada Day festivities.

The Rotary Club will host and organize many activities for Canada Day at the Pier from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., including face painting, balloon animals, cotton candy, the Canada Day cake, singing O’ Canada, and roving entertainers.

“The Town of Sylvan Lake and the Rotary Club partner together by co-organizing community celebrations and the Canada Day activities at the Pier during the day. We also work together by providing volunteers and event support for Canada Day programming at the Pier,” special events coordinator Denise Papineu said.

Celebrating Canada Day helps to build community pride and brings residents together to celebrate both Canadian heritage and the unique character of Sylvan Lake.

“It allows us to create a sense of belonging by giving families, newcomers, seniors, and visitors opportunities to meet and connect. We’re able to support local organizations and volunteers such as the Rotary Club of Sylvan Lake, whose efforts help make community events possible,” Papineu said.

“Celebrating diversity and inclusion by recognizing the many cultures, histories, and perspectives that contribute to Canada and the local community is always a highlight.”

Due to the fireworks show in the evening, there will be a fireworks safety restriction zone on the Pier with no public access.

“Residents and visitors are encouraged to enjoy the fireworks from designated viewing areas at a safe distance. Please follow all directions from onsite RCMP and Fire Department personnel to help ensure a safe celebration for everyone,” Papineau said.

All event information about Canada Day will be available on the Visit Sylvan Lake website, visitsylvanlake.ca.
