RCMP looking for suspect in deadly Lloydminster shooting

Shooting occurred Monday morning on 50th Avenue

Lloydminster RCMP are looking for the suspect in a fatal shooting that happened Monday in the Prairie city that straddles the Alberta-Saskatchewan boundary.

In a news release issued Wednesday, RCMP said an arrest warrant has been issued for 40-year-old Randy Lysohirka of Lloydminster and that he is wanted for second-degree murder.

Police said investigators believe Lysohirka is still in possession of a gun and are asking people not to approach him if they see him and to call police instead.

Police said officers responded to a shooting on 50th Avenue near 47th Street in Lloydminster shortly after 11 a.m. on Monday. They said emergency responders attempted life-saving measures on the victim but he was declared dead at the scene.

RCMP identified him as 22-year-old Lloydminster resident Nolan Whitstone. They said investigators believe it was a targeted shooting.

The RCMP has released images of Lysohirka captured by security video.
