Birmingham area health
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Six Birmingham area health-related tech startups got a crash course on expanding their business Tuesday.
They took part in the gBETA Prosper HealthTech Accelerator, a partnership between Prosper and gener8tor. The six startups started in college classrooms across Alabama, with focuses on the technology used to benefit healthcare in the community.
Over the last seven weeks, those groups have connected with mentors and investors. Officials hope it is only the beginning.
"Our goal for these companies, first and foremost, for them is launch out of the universities, the labs that they're in, and start to build and grow here both in terms of revenue, jobs, customers, and then ultimately our goal is to see them grow and have successful long-term impacts," said Haley Medved Kendrick, gener8tor's senior managing director of investment accelerators.
gener8tor is a nationwide accelerator program that has helped boost over 2,100 startup companies across the country.
