Alcohol allowed at seats for Scotland's World Cup play
Spectators will be able to consume alcohol at their seats when Scotland host the Czech Republic in the second leg of their Women's World Cup play-off in Paisley on Tuesday.
It will be the first time football supporters in Scotland have been able to drink in sight of the pitch at a professional game since 1981.
The Scottish FA say the initiative at the home of St Mirren is "another significant step forward" and the aim is to "explore how a managed approach to alcohol sales can contribute to a positive and safe matchday experience".
There had been a lengthy ban on alcohol in stadiums, with the exception of hospitality sections, until recent trials.
Such pilot schemes have led to Aberdeen being granted a permanent alcohol licence, with drinking limited to an area of the stadium concourse before the action and only for "lower-risk" matches.
Other clubs have been able to trial temporary fan zones outside their grounds.
Alcohol sales will be in the West and East stands at the Marbill Coaches Stadium, with Renfrewshire Council approving the application since the women's game is not covered by legislation prohibiting consumption in view of the pitch.
Scotland lead 2-0 from Friday's first leg, with the winners progressing to the second play-off round.
Sweden, semi-finalists at the past two World Cups, are almost certain to provide the next challenge, as they hold a 5-0 lead over Lithuania before their home leg.
