Abbotsford singer clinches 3 Canadian Country Music award nominations

An Abbotsford singer has nabbed three nominations for the Canadian Country Music Association Awards in September.

Morgan Griffiths has been nominated in the categories of Breakthrough Artist or Group of the Year, Single of the Year for his song Bourbon, and Fans’ Choice.

Both the Breakthrough Artists and Fans’ Choice awards are determined through online voting at ccma.org/fanvoting.

Winners in all categories will be announced Sept. 19 at the Sasktel Centre in Saskatoon, Sask.

Griffiths is a first-time nominee of the CCMA Awards, after having garnered three B.C Country Music Association Awards in April: Fans’ Choice Award, Song of the Year for his single Bourbon, and Songwriter of the Year.

At the same time as the CCMA Awards, Griffiths will also compete to be named the winner of the SiriusXM Top of the Country competition.

Griffiths was first named as one of eight semifinalists following a period of online voting in April. The field was then arrowed down to the three finalists.

In addition to Griffiths, they are Shawnee Kish of Edmonton and the Blue Ridge Band from Levis, Que.

The trio compete during Country Music Week 2026 in Saskatoon from Sept. 16 to 19, where the winner will be crowned on stage and receive the $25,000 grand prize. The two runners-up each receive $10,000.

Griffiths released his debut radio single, Bourbon, in 2025 and watched it quickly climb the charts, peaking at number four on the Billboard Canada Country chart.

He has followed this up with multiple other singles and has amassed more than two million streams.

His new song Just Being Me recently hit No. 5 on the Canada Country charts.
