2 missing after boat crash on Lake Rosseau in Muskoka, Ont.
'Severely damaged' boat found on a rock ledge, according to Ontario Provincial Police
Recovery divers are searching Lake Rosseau, Ont., for two people missing since a boat crash Friday, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
In a news release Saturday, OPP said officers responded to reports of a collision on the Muskoka cottage country lake around 10:40 p.m. the night before.
Crews found a "severely damaged vessel" on a rock ledge but not the two people believed to have been aboard.
A search of the surrounding area failed to find the missing boaters, police said.
An underwater search and recovery team and "specialized OPP resources" have now been deployed to the lake.
Police asked residents to avoid the area and for anyone with information to come forward.
The cause of the crash is being investigated, police said.
