Fire department's rope rescue team called in to help
A woman had to be rescued after falling down the embankment of an Ottawa River lookout early Wednesday, according to first responders.
Ottawa paramedics said they were called to the Rockcliffe lookout east of downtown around 1:30 a.m.
They made their way down to the injured woman and called in an Ottawa Fire Services rope rescue team, according to firefighters.
A member of the team rappelled about six metres down the embankment to reach the woman and helped co-ordinate her rescue along the shoreline.
She was taken to hospital with serious injuries, paramedics said.
