Woman, 22, dead following crash in Ancaster: Hamilton police
Both vehicles became fully engulfed in flames due to the collision, police say
Hamilton police say a 22-year-old woman is dead after a collision in Ancaster Saturday morning.
In a news release Saturday evening, Hamilton police said a woman driving a silver Hyundai was going westbound on Wilson Street near Trinity Road shortly before 9:30 a.m. The Hyundai swerved into the opposite lane and struck a Cadillac going eastbound, according to police.
Both cars became fully engulfed in flames due to the crash, Hamilton police added.
The 22-year-old woman suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Cadillac, a 51-year-old woman, was transported to hospital and later released, police said in the news release.
Both directions of Wilson Street between Trinity Road and Alberton Road were closed for several hours, Hamilton police said.
