What to watch on Netflix Canada: New TV shows and movies, plus what's being removed in July 2026

As we get ready for a new batch of TV shows and movies coming to Netflix in July, we're also saying goodbye to some favourites. Ransom Canyon returns for Season 2, while the Little House on the Prairie series and The Hawk, starring Will Ferrell, premiere. But July also marks the release of the final season of Michelle Buteau's Survival of the Thickest, and the farewell movie Heartstopper Forever.

Aside from new things coming to the streamer, a number of popular shows and movies will be removed from Netflix Canada. The 1995 film Casper, starring Christina Ricci, will be leaving the site, as will Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation with Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson.

This is also your last chance to watch the underrated series Good Girls, starring Christina Hendricks, Retta and Mae Whitman. The first Downton Abbey movie, the 2017 Justice League film, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and Bodies Bodies Bodies are also being removed from Netflix Canada.

What to watch on Netflix: New TV shows and movies

Survival of the Thickest — July 2

It's a bittersweet start to the month with the arrival of the final season of Survival of the Thickest. Co-created by Michelle Buteau and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel, Buteau's Mavis Beaumont is on a quest to grow her brand, which brings her to Paris, as we see in the trailer for the season.

Season 3 of Survival of the Thickest also has a number of celebrity guest stars, including Wanda Sykes, D.L. Hughley, Ashley Graham, Ronny Chieng, Jenna Lyons, Kandi Burruss, and Ice-T.

Little House on the Prairie — July 9

Based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's books, the new Little House of the Prairie series brings us into the world of the beloved semi-autobiographical family story, with stars including Alice Halsey, Luke Bracey, Crosby Fitzgerald, Skywalker Hughes, Warren Christie, Jocko Sims, Alyssa Wapanatâhk.

"I always like to say that this show is a love story about a family. They're a family you want to be with, you want to know, you want to spend time with," showrunner and executive producer Rebecca Sonnenshine told Netflix's Tudum. "That's really at the core of what Little House on the Prairie is about: a family that is there for each other, tells stories to each other, tells stories about themselves."

The show has already been renewed for Season 2, ahead of the series premiere.

Will Ferrell is Lonnie "The Hawk" Hawkins in The Hawk, a fictional washed-up pro golfer who just can't quit the game, wanting to take one more chance to compete in the Grand Slam, even with his son Lance (Jimmy Tatro) now his golf rival.

The series also stars Molly Shannon, Fortune Feimster, Luke Wilson and Chris Parnell.

Heartstopper Forever — July 17

The farewell film Heartstopper Forever reunites us with Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke), as Nick is preparing to leave for university and the reality of a long-distance relationship weighs on them.

Joe Locke and Kit Connor are also executive producers for the first time.

"These characters have meant a lot to us over the years," Connor told Tudum. "As EPs, it feels like we can really say goodbye to them in a way that feels the most right. It is bittersweet, but it is also a really nice way of ending it."

"This show has meant so much to me in my life. I'll always carry that with me," Locke added.

Ransom Canyon, Season 2 — July 23

Minka Kelly and Josh Duhamel return for Ransom Canyon Season 2 as Quinn O'Grady and Staten Kirkland, with the story continuing after Quinn has spent six months in New York City as a concert pianist, and Staten is ready to win her back. But Quinn is with another man, Oliver (Ben Robson).
