Vietnam police bust cat trafficking ring
Police in Vietnam have arrested 12 people for allegedly stealing and selling thousands of cats. They suspect the group took the pets to be slaughtered for consumption, a legal and long-standing custom in the country.
State media says Ho Chi Minh City police seized cat traps, fur removal machines and motorbikes from the group.
The suspects allegedly took around 2,700 cats, using fish as bait and setting traps outside homes.
Police seized 50 cats and have reunited 13 with their owners.
