Vernon Soccer League hosting World Cup Final watch party Sunday

It’s been more than a month of thrilling goals, unthinkable upsets and a Golden Boot race for the ages. And the 2026 FIFA World Cup all comes down to one game on Sunday.

Hundreds of millions of people around the world are expected to watch the World Cup Final match between Spain and Argentina, among them plenty of soccer fans in Vernon.

So, where can Vernonites take in the game with a World Cup-worthy atmosphere? The Vernon Soccer League has the answer.

The League is hosting a World Cup Final watch party for the big game that kicks off at noon Sunday, July 19. It will be screened at the Vernon Recreation Centre Auditorium.

“We’re trading our tiny living room screens for a massive projector setup at the Vernon Rec Centre, meaning you can finally yell at the referees alongside a room full of people who actually agree with you,” the Vernon Soccer League said on social media.

The doors will open at 11:30 a.m.

Tickets are $20 per person with family discounts available. A slice from Happy Slice Pizza and a pop are included with attendees’ event registration.

“To make sure the vibes are absolutely immaculate, DNA’s Entertainment will be the official host of the event,” the League said. “They’ll be keeping the energy high, the music pumping, and making sure nobody tries to slide-tackle the projector screen when Messi or Yamal makes a game-defining run.”

Because an exact head count is needed for the food order and hall capacity, no walk-ins can be accepted on game day. There is also a zero-tolerance, no-alcohol policy to keep the event family-friendly inside a city facility.
