Toronto police officer charged with sexual offences involving girl, SIU says
SIU has reasonable grounds to believe that constable committed crimes against girl: director
A Toronto police officer is facing a number of charges including sexual assault and transmitting sexually explicit material to a person under the age of 16.
In a news release Thursday, Ontario's Special Investigations Unit said its director, Joseph Martino, has reasonable grounds to believe Const. Parsa Hazeri committed crimes against a girl in Toronto between September and December 2025.
Hazeri was arrested at SIU headquarters Thursday morning, held for a bail hearing and later released on several conditions.
He has also been charged with sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, communicating with a person under the age of 16 for the purpose of facilitating an offence, breach of trust and careless use of a firearm.
Hazeri suspended from service, police say
In a statement Thursday, Toronto police said Hazeri, 27, was assigned to 33 Division and has three years of service.
Stephanie Sayer, spokesperson for the police, said when the service became aware of he complaint in January, it immediately notified the SIU.
"The same day, the officer was suspended in accordance with the Community Safety and Policing Act (CSPA), removed from operational duties, and had his police authorities revoked," Sayer said.
Sayer said once the charges were laid, Toronto police Chief Myron Demkiw began proceedings to have the officer's employment terminated. Demkiw has served notice of suspension without pay under sec. 210 of the Act, she said.
"As this matter is now before the courts, we will not be commenting further on the allegations," Sayer said.
Hazeri's bail conditions include a ban on communicating directly or indirectly with the alleged victim.
He is due to appear in a Toronto courtroom on July 17.
The SIU said it would not comment further because the matter is before the courts. The agency investigates incidents involving police and civilians that have resulted in serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault.
